Hakea Prison—Conditions
845. Hon Dr Brad Pettitt to the minister representing the Minister for Corrective
Services:
I refer to Judge Linda Black's recent decision to
significantly reduce a sentence due to the intolerable and far below standard
conditions at Hakea Prison, the minister's response to the media that "we
make no apologies for locking up drug traffickers" and the fact that three
deaths in custody have occurred at Hakea Prison this calendar year.
What is the minister
doing to ensure the safety and wellbeing of all prisoners at Hakea Prison?
