I refer to the lack of access by students to aviation courses within the TAFE system, and note that Polytechnic West (the TAFE running from Jandakot airport) has submitted a proposal to the Training Accreditation Council (TAC) to be accredited for an Advanced Diploma course that includes both the private and commercial pilots course. Some Eastern States TAFEs and universities are already running such courses and, if approved, the whole course will fall within the VET FEE HELP program, and so I ask: (a) has the decision to accredit the proposed Advanced Diploma course been delayed and, if so, why; (b) will the TAC provide accreditation for the aviation course and, if so, when; and (c) has the TAC received any submissions or representations from the Federal Government on this matter and, if so, what are the details of those submissions or representations?

(a) No, the course was submitted for Accreditation with TAC on 9 February 2015.
(b) The course will be Accredited subject to the course meeting the national Standards for Accredited Courses. A decision on Accreditation of a course of the complexity of the one submitted is usually determined by TAC within approximately 8 weeks of receipt.
(c) No.
