I thank the member for the question. I am very pleased to announce that we have closed the expression of interest process for the Peel deviation and that three consortia have nominated to build this important road. I am very pleased to say that all the big names are included - Theiss Bros Pty Ltd, Clough Ltd, McMahon Construction, Kellogg Brown and Root Pty Ltd, Leighton Contractors Pty Ltd and John Holland - in various consortia and we are very confident that we will have a very excellent project. Main Roads will now work through a series of workshops and financial evaluations and technical evaluations to select a preferred proponent by the end of the year. It is important to remind the house that we are once again pursuing an alliance contracting arrangement. That will give us absolutely maximum flexibility to get this project started while we continue to negotiate with the federal government to get a reasonable outcome for Western Australia. I advise the house that the Premier had a very positive meeting with the Prime Minister a couple of weeks ago on this topic and the case has been put to the Prime Minister. The Peel deviation stakeholders group will meet with Mr Lloyd, the federal Minister for Local Government, Territories and Roads, tomorrow and they are very strongly supportive of our claim to get the federal government to chip in 50-50 for this important project. I will be meeting again with Minister Warren Truss on Thursday and hopefully, with a bit of support from the conservative forces in this state, we will get a proper partnership arrangement from the federal government and be able to get this road completed by 2009.
