The Minister Replied:
(1) Of the $80 million over four years allocated to schools through this program, approximately $19.5 million is allocated according to distance and socio-economic factors.
(2) The distance factor is based on a formula which takes into account both the distance from Perth and from the local Education District Office. The H index is an index of socio-economic disadvantage for schools, which draws on data collected by the Australian Bureau of Statistics from the most recent census.
(3) Distance index - 6%
Socio-economic index - 9%
