785. Hon SUE ELLERY to the Minister for
Education:
(1) Is the
minister aware of growing concerns in the non-government secondary school
sector that changes to the qualifications required of teachers in the
Vocational Education and Training in Schools area, so that teachers must have a
certificate II in the particular subject as well as their teaching qualification,
is imposing additional costs on the schools and potentially will result in a
narrower range of VET courses in those schools?
(2) If yes to (1), what has the
minister done to take account of those concerns?

Non-government secondary schools received additional funding for the upskilling of teachers to deliver VET. I am not aware of
any new concerns from non-government secondary schools about this matter since
the funding was provided. However, a high-level cross-sector and cross-agency
VET working group has been formed to address issues within VET in Schools
delivery.
