KURRA
VILLAGE LEASE — LEADER OF THE NATIONAL PARTY'S COMMENTS
950. Mr M. McGOWAN to the Premier:
I have a supplementary question. Once again, has the Premier
spoken to his minister about these issues, considering he defied the Premier
yesterday in question time in what I regard as an unprecedented performance;
and, if the Premier has not, does this not show a complete breakdown of the
functioning and communication of his cabinet?

Our staff have had discussions today.
Several members interjected.
Mr C.J. BARNETT : I
have actually organised a Christmas present for Terry Redman. I organised it on
the weekend, and I am going to give it to him next week. I think he knows what
it is. In the spirit of goodwill, I will share the moment with everyone here
next week, or it might be the week after, when I give him the present. It may
be in the last week of Parliament, and I will share it with everyone. I have
gone to a great deal of trouble to get this present.
We will deal with these issues in a proper and professional
way through the cabinet process. Who I speak to and when I speak to them has
nothing to do with the Leader of the Opposition at all. The Minister for
Regional Development is a good minister. We have a policy difference but that
does not in any way detract from our friendship and our ability to work
together.
