1291. Hon AMBER-JADE SANDERSON to the
parliamentary secretary representing the Minister for Health:
I refer to the 16-page coloured advertising lift-out in The West Australian on 3 October 2014.
(1) What was the total cost of this lift-out?
(2) Did Serco contribute towards the cost of the lift-out;
and, if so, how much?
(3) How much
of the communications budget for Fiona Stanley Hospital is left in its budget,
in particular to communicate to residents in Fremantle and surrounding
districts of the impending closure of the Fremantle Hospital emergency
department in February 2015 and to redirect them to the Fiona Stanley Hospital
emergency department?

On behalf of the parliamentary secretary representing the
Minister for Health, I thank the honourable member for some notice of this
question.
(1) The cost
to the Department of Health was $6 000. The remaining costs were covered by
advertising sold by The West Australian .
It required $50 000 in advertising to cover the costs of producing the
advertisement.
(2) Yes. Serco
bought a quarter-page advertisement at a cost determined by and payable to The West Australian .
(3) An amount
of $285 000 was quarantined for exclusive use on emergency department
communications.
