With regard to the recently passed Indonesian forestry law banning open-pit mining as it is deemed to be a danger to Indonesian forests -
(1) While so far the statute has not generally been enforced will the Western Australian Government encourage the many West Australian companies operating in Indonesia to abide by the statute?
(2) If yes, when will this be done?
(3) If no to (1), why not?
(4) If no to (1), does the Western Australian Government condone West Australian companies attempting to overturn the Indonesian forestry law?

(1 to 4) The administration of forestry and mining laws in Indonesia is a matter for the authorities in Indonesia. The West Australian Government would expect West Australian companies operating in other countries to abide by the laws of those countries in carrying out their activities.
