I refer to the Drinking Water Quality Annual Report Data 01/07/2016 to 30/06/2017 and ask: (a) As per table two of 'Health Related Data', why were so many samples taken for Mandurah compared to all other sample areas; and (b) As per table three of 'Aesthetic Data', why were so many samples taken for Mandurah, three times the average of samples conducted in other areas?

(a) All water quality monitoring in the Mandurah locality meets 100% of the health requirements in the Australian Drinking Water Guidelines, as agreed with the Department of Health.
The locality of Mandurah is supplied from two separate zones - North and South Mandurah. There are multiple sources of water that supply these zones, and throughout the year, water can come from Stirling Dam, Samson Brook Dam (via Samson Pipehead Dam), Southern Seawater Desalination Plant, North and South Dandalup Dams, Serpentine Trunk Main and Stirling/Dandalup Trunk Main.
As the Mandurah locality is serviced by a complex supply system, more sampling points exist to represent what is supplied to customers.
(b) All water quality monitoring in the Mandurah locality meets 100% of the aesthetic requirements in the Australian Drinking Water Guidelines, as agreed with the Department of Health.
The number of samples taken for aesthetic parameters is higher than other localities due to the complexity of the water supply system and the two separate zones within Mandurah compared to the other localities.
