The Department of Housing advises:
As at 31 May 2012 public housing stock was 36 760 of which 35 424 properties were tenanted.
Of the remaining 1336 properties, 369 are either undergoing vacated maintenance, are in the process of allocation, or have been offered to potential tenants.
967 are classified as non-lettable.  Of these 967, 485 are awaiting sale, demolition or other outcomes and will not be returned to public housing stock and 482 will return to stock following significant refurbishment.
