I refer to the Busselton Margaret River Airport and funding assigned to the proposed terminal, and I ask: (a) If an airline signs a contract with the City of Busselton to use the Busselton Margaret River Airport, will you accept this as a 'commitment from an airline'; (b) If accepted that it is a commitment, will you release the retained funds to enable the construction of the upgraded terminal; (c) What support are you providing to the City of Busselton in negotiating a deal with an airline; and (d) What actions are you implementing to support the development of the South West in terms of improved infrastructure for tourists?

(a) – (b) Our priority is to secure an airline service in to Busselton. Our discussions with airlines have made it clear that a new terminal is not required to commence the service.
Should the new route be successful, consideration will be given to the need for a new terminal.
(c) The South West Development Commission and Tourism WA are working closely with the City to secure a new service including engaging with airlines. The Minister for Regional Development has also made strong representation to the interested airline encouraging them to deliver the service.
(d) The South West Development Commission provides guidance, funding and leadership on a wide range of tourism infrastructure projects in the South West region. Project examples include, redevelopment of the Cape Naturaliste and Cape Leeuwin Lighthouse tourism precincts, Busselton Foreshore redevelopment, Busselton Jetty, Margaret River Perimeter Road, Margaret River Town Centre Revitalisation, Wilyabrup Food and Wine Cycle Trail Feasibility and the Margaret River HEART project.
The South West Development Commission also supports events, wine and food initiatives and the creative sector in close partnership with Australia’s South West, Margaret River Busselton Tourism and Tourism WA.
