DRAFT TRANSPORT PLAN —
RAIL TUNNEL — MORLEY
499. Ms R. SAFFIOTI to the Minister for
Transport:
I have a supplementary question.
Given the Treasurer said that there was no planning, no route and no costing of
this project, and given that the Minister for Transport said he wants to push
ahead with it and commence it before the next election, what detailed analysis
does the Minister for Transport have of this project—or is it a line on
a map?

The shadow Minister for Transport is
taking elements of what I have said.

The
SPEAKER : Members!
Mr
D.C. NALDER : At the press briefing immediately after the launch of the
transport plan, I said that we need to take out a detailed analysis over this
specific route to determine the exact locations of stations. We have not
identified exactly where the station will be in Morley. We have identified that
it will be in Morley.
Mr
P. Papalia interjected.
The
SPEAKER : Member for Warnbro, I call you to order for the second time.
Mr
D.C. NALDER : What I find tremendously humorous about the jibes from members
on the other side is that they expect us to take their transport plan
seriously. They did not even have a transport planner preparing it. They had a sustainability
expert work on their transport plan—oh, God forbid! Did they take into
consideration the capacity of rail lines when they considered the route and the
routes off to Ellenbrook and to Morley? No, they did not. They did not take
that into consideration at all.
Several members interjected.
The
SPEAKER : Members!
Mr
D.C. NALDER : Their plan is flawed; I have said from the outset that it was
flawed. The government's plan has been prepared by independent
transport planners, and members opposite dare knock it.
Mr
D.A. Templeman interjected.
The
SPEAKER : Member for Mandurah!
Mr
D.C. NALDER : I look forward to their contribution in the submission.
