(1) Will the State Government commit to the allocation of $8.8 million of Royalties for Regions funding so that the Goldfields Arts Centre can remain operational and, if not, why not?
(2) Has it been established that workers opt to fly-in-fly-out when basic community infrastructure, such as arts centres, isn't available in regional cities for workers and their families?
(3) The Mayor of the City of Kalgoorlie-Boulder, in the
Kalgoorlie Miner
on 28 April 2012, stated that the City wants the Government to treat regional centres in the same way as councils in the Perth metropolitan area with regards to annual operating subsidies for performing arts. Will the Minister address this issue and, if not, why not?
(4) In considering whether the Goldfields Arts Centre will receive Royalties for Regions funding, will the Minister consider the effect on regional workforce trends, cost-of-living and quality of life if the Goldfields Centre has to close in August?

(1-4) The Department for Culture and the Arts is undertaking a state-wide Cultural Infrastructure Directions Study (Study) that is not yet complete. The Regional Development Council (RDC) advised that funding was not recommended in the Royalties for Regions RDC 2011 Action Agenda Scheme for this facility until the outcomes of the Study were known.
