The Department of Housing advises:
(a) SHAP is available for existing tenants who are experiencing difficulties maintaining or sustaining their tenancy, which may place them at risk.  Referrals to SHAP can be made at any stage during a tenancy however consent from the tenant is required before a referral can be progressed.
(b) Housing Support Officers refer tenants to the SHAP who require support to address underlying issues which may be contributing towards:
- Anti-social or disruptive behaviour
- Property standards
- Property damage
- Financial difficulties
- Overcrowding
(c) The SHAP provider for the North Metropolitan Region is Mission Australia.
