SUSPENSION
968. Hon PETER COLLIER to the Leader of the House representing the Minister for Local
Government:
I refer to the McGowan Labor
government's decision to sack the City of Perth council and appoint
commissioners.
(1) What is the
total amount paid to each of the commissioners since their appointment?
(2) Are the councillors eligible for additional
sitting fees for appointment to regional councils, statutory bodies and
external organisations, boards and committees?
(3) If yes to
(2), what is the total additional amount paid to each commissioner since their
appointment?

I thank the honourable member for
some notice of the question.
(1) Commissioner
Lumsden, who resigned, was paid $455 380.99; deputy chair, Commissioner
Hammond, $426 082.08; chair, Commissioner McMath, $444 520.96; and Commissioner
Kosova, nil.
(2)–(3)
Suspended councillors are not eligible for additional fees according to section
8.30B(4) of the Local Government Act 1995.
Commissioners are eligible for
sitting fees. The Department of Local Government, Sport and Cultural Industries
does not maintain a centralised register of all external organisations, boards
and committees, regional councils and/or statutory bodies where commissioners
may hold positions.
