(1) Will the minister confirm whether the Maritime Museum in Fremantle has had to close part of its exhibition area due to structural damage to some of the glass, and whether the museum has had to waive the entrance fee of $10 since May this year? (2) Will the minister inform the Parliament - (a) of the estimated lost income to the museum for the period of the partial closure; (b) the average number of visitors over the past 12 months on a month-by-month basis from 1 July 2004 to 1 July 2005; (c) the extent of the structural damage and the expected cost of the restoration; (d) whether this will be covered by insurance; and, (e) when she expects the Maritime Museum to be fully operational? (1) The Minister for Culture and the Arts refers the honourable member to the minister’s parliamentary statement of 21 June 2005 in answer to this question. (2) (a) Based on the attendance figures for the equivalent period last year - 19 May to 31 October 2004 - the estimated loss of entrance income will be $421 000. (b) The attendance figures for the 12 months from July 2004 to July 2005 are: July, 18 633; August, 16 923; September, 18 901; October, 21 745; November, 18 972; December, 20 106; January, 26 034; February, 14 796; March, 18 717; April, 19 078; May, 14 982; and June, 13 496. (c) The cost of remediation is estimated to be less than $200 000.
