820. Hon SALLY TALBOT to the minister representing the
Minister for Environment:
(1) How many
full-time equivalent employees worked in the Department of Environment and
Conservation's climate change unit in 2009–10, 2010–11
and 2011–12?
(2) What was the budget allocation to DEC's climate
change unit in 2009–10, 2010–11 and 2011–12?
(3) Why has
the state's climate change mitigation and adaptation strategy not been
released, and when will it be released?

The climate change unit is responsible for coordinating the response to climate
change. Details of FTEs and budget allocation for this unit are published in
the annual Budget Statements presented to Parliament. Page 894 of the 2009–10 Budget Statements shows a budget target of $11.473 million and 23 FTEs.
Page 823 of the 2010–11 Budget Statements shows a budget target of $11.873 million and 21 FTEs. Page 823 of the 2011–12 Budget Statements shows a budget
target of $19.187 million and 20 FTEs.
(3) It is expected that the strategy will be released in the
near future.
