I refer the Minister to an article which appeared in
The West Australian
on Friday, June 4 2002, in which the Minister is quoted as saying ‘we really need high-quality hotel accommodation for the Coral Coast, particularly Ningaloo. If you build it, they will come’, and ask -
(1) Is the Minister quoted correctly?
(2) If so, why did the Minister oppose the Maud’s Landing development which would have seen a hotel development at Ningaloo?

(1) The Minister is quoted in the context of Exmouth and the need to service the Ningaloo Reef area with quality hotels. He was referring to the nature of hotel development not the location.
(2) The Maud?s Landing proposal was inappropriate. The Government has repeatedly stated its position on Maud?s Landing.
