DEPARTMENT OF COMMERCE — LANDGATE —
DECLARED BUSHFIRE-PRONE AREAS
127. Hon SAMANTHA ROWE to the
parliamentary secretary representing the Minister for Lands:
I refer to ongoing discussions between the Department of
Commerce and Landgate to make properties in declared bushfire-prone areas a
registered interest.
(1) At what
stage are these discussions?
(2) How is it
envisaged that this information will be made available to the public?
(3) What is
the time frame to fully implement the proposals?
(4) At
present, is there any mechanism for notifying prospective purchasers of the
bushfire status of land?

AnswerView source ↗

I thank the
honourable member for some notice of the question.
(1)–(4)
Landgate has consulted with the Bushfire Review Implementation Group, which is
looking at ways to declare bushfire-prone areas. Once the approach is
determined, Landgate will work with the Bushfire Review Implementation Group to
help make this information available to the public. At present, Landgate does
not have a mechanism for notifying prospective buyers of the bushfire status of
land.
