I thank the honourable member for some notice of the question. (1) Yes, the climate change unit in the Department of Environment and Conservation continues to be responsible for coordinating policy and strategic advice on climate change, while individual agencies address climate change issues as they affect their sectoral responsibilities. (2)–(5) The Minister for Environment will consider a working draft of the strategy prior to agency, and then public, consultation. The strategy is a government election commitment and will prepare Western Australia for the effects of climate change. The development of climate change policy will be undertaken in a thorough, measured and participative fashion, taking into account national and international settings.
