This is a project that is primarily
the responsibility of the Minister for Transport. It is in the transport
portfolio and Main Roads Western Australia has responsibility for implementing
the project. The government in relatively recent times has made a decision to
confirm the intention to go ahead with the project, and the planning system is
accommodating, and indeed facilitating in part, the decision within government
and being put into effect through the transport portfolio to undertake the
extension of Roe Highway stage 8, which has actually been intended since the
1960s.
