With reference to potential ammonia leaks associated with the Burrup Fertilisers Plant, I ask -
(1) In recent heritage surveys carried out over the Woodside Pluto Site B area, have consultants and Indigenous survey crews been advised by Burrup Fertiliser that they should carry breathing apparatus as a safety precaution?
(2) Does the Minister know if the consultants and Indigenous survey crews have been provided with the suitable respiratory equipment, and if so by whom?
(3) If the survey crews have not been supplied with breathing apparatus can the Minister identify why not?
(4) Can the Minister ensure that all necessary safety measures that are as prescribed in the agreed process between Burrup Fertiliser and neighbouring industries are afforded to Indigenous survey crews and consultants during work adjacent to the Burrup Fertiliser facility?

(1)Burrup Fertilisers (BFPL) has advised that the survey company in question on Woodside Pluto Site B area has been liaising with BFPL. They have been provided with a copy of BFPL's "Neighbouring Facilities Information" presentation which explains BFPL's operation, what to do in an emergency and emergency phone contact number for their site. BFPL advise that the survey company has vehicles that can be used for temporary shelter and evacuation as recommended in their advice to neighbours information pack. The survey company has been included in BFPL's emergency response notification system and requested to advise BFPL of their whereabouts should they be out of contact by mobile phone. (2)To my knowledge the consultants and survey crews have not been provided with respiratory equipment. (3)There is no legislative requirement for the survey crews to be specifically issued with breathing apparatus. The survey company has a requirement under the Occupational Health & Safety Act 1984 to provide a safe work environment for their employees cognisant of the risks to which their employees are exposed. (4) As above.
