RSPCA — PREMIER'S COMMENTS
502. Hon LYNN MacLAREN to the Minister for Agriculture and Food:
(1) Is the
minister aware of comments today by the Premier, a patron of the RSPCA, in
support of the good work and reputation of the RSPCA, and seemingly in
contradiction to the criticism raised recently in this chamber?
(2) Can the
minister explain why the Department of Agriculture and Food has had only one
successful prosecution since the beginning of the financial year in 2013?

(1)–(2) I
thank the honourable member for the question. As I said in my speech, I also
acknowledge the good work done by the RSPCA, and I actually read out a whole
heap of lists at that time. So if the member refers back to that, she will see
the answer to that. I was not aware of what the Premier had said, but I understand
that he has obviously followed that suit that I took as well. Because there has
been only one prosecution, I cannot answer that, but I will see if I can find
out for the member.
