(2) The Department of Conservation and Land Management has been actively seeking to have these reserves included in the national park. In 2000, the Department of Minerals and Energy and the Water and Rivers Commission concurrence were obtained. In mid 2000, the proposal had been referred to the Shire of Augusta-Margaret River and to the relevant Native Title claimant representative bodies for their respective endorsements. The Shire of Augusta-Margaret River has responded to the proposal. As a result, the Department of Conservation and Land Management is negotiating with the Shire. The Shire agrees in principle but is seeking compensating gravel supplies. Both parties are endeavouring to reach agreement. No comments have been received from the Native Title claimant representative bodies as yet. (3) N/A
