FOREST MANAGEMENT PLAN — ENVIRONMENTAL PROTECTION AUTHORITY CONCERNS
I refer to the Environmental Protection Authority’s advice on the performance of Western Australia’s 10-year forest management plan, declining long-term rainfall, and the fact that the EPA has serious doubts that continued logging in the low rainfall zone and the adjoining medium rainfall zone in the eastern portion of the south west forests would be capable of meeting ecologically sustainable forest management objectives. (1) Does the minister share the EPA’s concerns? (2) If yes to (1), will the minister move to end logging in the low rainfall zone and adjoining medium rainfall zone in the south east portion of the south west forests? (3) If no to (1), why not? (4) Will the minister table the map indicating the current low and medium rainfall zones that are informing the Department of Environment and Conservation’s management of south west forests? (5) When was the data collected on which this map is based? Hon DONNA FARAGHER
