ENTERTAINMENT VENUES
(1) Will the minister provide details of which Western Australian performing arts companies, if any, will be housed in the Perth Arena, and from which portfolio’s budget the $300 million will come? (2) What plans, if any, does the government have for the existing mothballed Perth Entertainment Centre? (3) Have any negotiations taken place between the government and the current owners of the Perth Entertainment Centre? (4) Will the proposed government-funded Perth Arena replace the Burswood Dome to accommodate the Hopman Cup and large concerts? I thank the member for some notice of this question. (1) It is not proposed that Perth Arena will house any performing arts companies. The budget is currently contained within the housing and works appropriation. (2) The Perth Entertainment Centre is privately owned. (3) Planning for the area is covered by the East Perth Redevelopment Authority. (4) Yes. (5) Questions relating to the Burswood Dome would be more appropriately answered by the Minister for Racing and Gaming.
