(1) How many individuals have received a cannabis infringement notice since 23 March 2004?
(2) Of those individuals referred to in (1), how many have received more than one infringement notice?
(3) Of those individuals referred to in (1), how many -
(a) elected to be prosecuted for the alleged offence in court?
(b) paid the modified penalty for the offence within 28 days after the issuing of the notice?
(c) completed a cannabis education session within 28 days after the issuing of the notice?
(d) did not complete either (b) or (c) above within the prescribed period and did not elect to be prosecuted for the alleged offence in court?

(2) This information is currently captured on a stand-alone system. This system does not record multiple infringements against an individual offender. It would require considerable time to review the data manually in order to retrieve the specific data requested. The Commissioner of Police has advised he is unable to divert valuable resources away from core policing activities to obtain this information. (3)(a) 28 (b) 1 838 (c) 1 012 (d) 4 031. If a notice is not paid or an education session is not completed within 28 days, a final demand is sent within 10 days and the person is given another 28 days to pay. If, after the expiration of this further time period the fine remains unpaid, it is forwarded to the Fines Enforcement Registry (Dept of the Attorney General).
