Hospital redevelopments—WA-made green steel
607. Ms Sandra Brewer to
the Minister for Health Infrastructure:
I refer to the
Premier's announcement that the redevelopment at Royal Perth Hospital and Peel
Health Campus will be built using WA-made green steel. Given that there are no
WA green steel mills currently being built in Western Australia, how will the
government complete construction using WA-made green steel at RPH by 2028 and
at Peel Health Campus by 2029?

I tell you what,
there will be one difference. We will actually build the emergency department
and a six-storey building at Royal Perth Hospital. That side promised $600 million!
They were like this—flicking money! Those on the other side are talking
about health infrastructure at Royal Perth Hospital—that side!
Several members
interjected.
The Speaker: Members! Just wait, minister.
Mr David Michael interjected.
The Speaker: Leader of the House, come to order, thank
you.
Mr John Carey: I am being lectured by the member for
Cottesloe, who comes from a political party that in 2008 promised a $600 million
redevelopment of Royal Perth Hospital. They talked the big game—and
nothing. I will not be lectured by those on the opposite side. Mullewa Hospital—zero.
The part-time member—zero.
The Speaker: Minister!
Mr Lachlan Hunter interjected.
The Speaker: Member for Central Wheatbelt! Minister,
if you could direct your comments through the Chair, that would be appreciated.
Mr John Carey: When I look across that side, I see a
litany of failure of projects they could never deliver, like Mullewa Hospital.
Mr Lachlan Hunter interjected.
The Speaker: Member for Central Wheatbelt, I am going
to call you for the second time. There is no need for that constant
interjection.
Mrs Jessica Stojkovski: That is the second one.
The Speaker: No, it is the first. Sorry.
Mr John Carey: That side of politics never delivered
on hospital projects. When it did, they were absolute failures. Let us forget
about Perth Children's Hospital.
Several members
interjected.
The Speaker: Members of the opposition!
Mr John Carey: I want to assure Western Australians that
we will deliver those health infrastructure projects.
