secretary representing the Minister for Transport:
I refer to Stephenson Highway
between Innaloo and Fremantle, which is shown as a primary regional road in the
metropolitan region scheme.
(1) When is it currently expected
that this road will need to be built?
(2) What
modelling has been undertaken on the impact for this road of the PremierXXX ###XXXs recent announcement that the government
does not intend to build a second metropolitan container port for 15 years?
(3) What
modelling has been undertaken on the impact of the Perth Freight Link for this
road and the timing of when it will be needed?
(4) Is this a
road project that could be brought forward and funded by a freight user charge
on trucks and heavy vehicles that will use it?

I thank the honourable member for
some notice of the question.
(1)–(4) The
Stephenson Highway alignment has been reserved in the metropolitan region
scheme for over 40 years. Apart from concept plans for the section between
Scarborough Beach Road and Mitchell Freeway,
there is currently no plan for its construction.
