WELL
157. Hon ROBIN CHAPPLE to the minister representing the
Minister for Mines and Petroleum:
I refer to the Buru Energy Ltd Cyrene well.
(1) What is the status of this well?
(2) Has Buru
Energy Ltd informed the Department of Mines and Petroleum about what it intends
to do with this well?
(3) Has Buru Energy Ltd developed a
rehabilitation plan for this well?
(4) If yes to (3), has the minister
approved the plan and will he table it?
(5) If no to (3), why not?

I thank the honourable member for some notice of this
question. The Department of Mines and Petroleum advises —
(1) The well
has been plugged and made secure in accordance with clause 529 of the Schedule
of Onshore Petroleum Exploration and Production Requirements 1991.
(2) See answer to (1).
(3) Yes.
(4) The rehabilitation plan has not
been approved; however, it is under assessment.
(5) Not applicable.
