I refer to the recent fire at Rockingham General Hospital.
(1) Were any mental health beds closed as a result of the
fire?
(2) If yes to (1), how many beds were closed and for what
duration?
(3) Where were Rockingham patients sent while beds were
closed?

I thank the member for some notice of the question.
(1)–(2)
Yes, eight mental health beds were closed as a result of a fire on 31 August
2015. Repair works are currently underway with an expected recommissioning date
of 30 November 2015.
(3) On the
night of the fire, two patients were discharged home and three patients were
placed on leave. A further three patients were temporarily accommodated within
the mental health unit, with further discharges occurring on 1 September 2015.
Currently, the mental health unit has reconfigured four of its older adult beds
to adult beds. During this temporary bed reconfiguration, some older adult
patients are cared for at Fremantle Hospital. Additionally, community resources
are prioritising their workload to provide additional community support.
