the Treasurer:
I have a
supplementary question. What concrete steps is the Treasurer urgently taking to
oppose these disastrous Labor government taxes?

First of all, the shadow
Treasurer said that it was visionary, so she should stand up and correct the
record. It is section 82.
Ms Amber-Jade Sanderson: Yes, you misled the
Parliament.
Ms Rita Saffioti: She misled the Parliament,
obviously, because she does not believe it now! What we will continue to do, as
has been demonstrated by our record in government compared with the Liberal–National
party record, is grow the economic base.
Ms Sandra Brewer interjected.
The Speaker: Member for Cottesloe!
Ms Rita Saffioti: We grow the economic base. They
shrunk the economic base and increased taxes. The Liberal–National party's
approach to the economy is "Let's shrink the economy." What was that
movie—"Sorry, I Shrunk the Economy"?
Several members
interjected.
Ms Rita Saffioti: Yes, it is "Sorry,
Honey"—that is a bit sexist, but anyway—"I Shrunk the Economy".
That is what the Liberal–National party does. It contracts and reduces the
economic base and increases taxes. We increase the economic base and increase
activity. That is what we are doing, that is what we will continue to do, and
we will continue to monitor the facts and statistics before us.
Ms Libby Mettam: That did not answer the
question.
Ms Rita Saffioti: I think, if you listened, maybe,
member for Vasse—
Several members
interjected.
The Speaker: Members!
Ms Libby Mettam interjected.
The Speaker: Members! Member for Vasse, please do not
interject.
Ms Rita Saffioti: In relation to transfer duty, we are
not abolishing stamp duty and replacing it with annual land tax on people's private
homes. That is their policy. We are not doing that.
Ms Sandra Brewer interjected.
The Speaker: Member for Cottesloe!
Ms Sandra Brewer interjected.
The Speaker: Member for Cottesloe, I am calling you
for the second time. Please do not engage in conversation across the chamber.
Ms Rita Saffioti: This is a party that says "We
are cutting stamp duty by 20%" without any costings, and then we say
"Are you actually committed to that?" and they cannot tell us. They
are still silent. They are all over the place. As I said, the shadow Treasurer
stood up and said that it was a visionary budget. Regardless of how effective it
is, it is going to address intergenerational equity and be great for the
nation. That is what the shadow Treasurer said. She cannot be consistent. It is
an act of desperation. Our budget is not even through the Parliament and they
want to run on the federal budget. They cannot even ask a question about our
state budget.
