(a) The Fertiliser Partnership was established by the WA Government to facilitate a shared community responsibility for managing nutrient loss from fertiliser use. One objective is for the Partnership to contribute to the long term goal of a 50 per cent reduction in nutrient loss to waterways and wetlands on the Swan and Scott Coastal Plains. Signatories to the Partnership make a contribution to this overarching goal by committing to develop, promote and apply best management practice in fertiliser use.
Long term monitoring of the nutrient status of waterways is undertaken by a range of Government departments including the Swan River Trust and Department of Water.
The success of the Fertiliser Partnership will be reviewed at the conclusion of the program (2016).
