Dr. Pettitt asks about the frequency of post-burn assessments by DBCA and requests post-burn evaluations for prescribed burns in the Forest Management Plan area over the last three years. The Minister states that while most burns are evaluated, providing the evaluations would be resource-intensive and offers a briefing instead.

(1)          Post burn evaluations of achievement of the prescribed burn objectives are generally undertaken following the completion of a prescribed burn.
(2)          The Department of Biodiversity, Conservation and Attractions (DBCA) completed 155 prescribed burns within the Forest Management Plan area over the years 2019/20, 2020/21 and 2021/22, of which 147 have completed post-burn evaluations. Given the level of agency resourcing required to source and provide potentially relevant information, it is not considered to be a reasonable use of government resources. I am happy to arrange a briefing by DBCA for the honourable Member.
