Minister for Agriculture and Food:
(1) Can the
minister confirm that the Department of Agriculture and FoodXXX ###XXXs
declared species working group is giving consideration to the removal of the
Australian ringneck, also known as the twenty-eight parrot, from the declared
species list?
(2) If yes to (1), what are the likely impacts on the grain
industry?
(3) If yes to (1), what are the likely impacts on
orchardists?
(4) If yes to (1), what consultation has been undertaken with
the grain industry and orchardists?

I thank the honourable member for some notice of this
question.
(1) Yes.
(2)–(3)
There will be no change. Landholders can control the species during the open
season gazetted by the Department of Parks and Wildlife.
(4) The
stakeholder reference group for the review of declared pests, animals and
plants includes representatives from the grains industry. Opportunities have
been provided to fruit and grape growers to participate in the group.
