I thank the honourable member for some notice of the
question.
The cost was $229 350 excluding GST for the production of
advertisements for the early childhood education campaign, and $356 275
excluding GST for the scheduling of advertisements for the early childhood
education campaign. Over the last three years there have been significant
changes in education in Western Australia, including making preprimary
compulsory and full-time from 2013 and guaranteed places at local public
schools. It is vital that parents, carers and the community are informed about
the changes to education, how it impacts their children and what they need to
do as part of the changes. The state government has run the advertising to
coincide with the enrolment period for parents to enrol their children for the
2013 school year.
