David Pye—Bail costs
1040. Hon Nick Goiran to
the minister representing the Minister for Police:
I refer to the
recent Supreme Court case in which David Pye is facing charges pertaining to
his alleged orchestration of the assassination of gang boss Nick Martin.
(1) Is the minister aware of the comments made by
Justice Joseph McGrath that were critical of the decision made by corrective
services that resulted in bail being granted during the trial?
(2) Is the minister aware that on 12 November 2025,
when asked about this result and impact, the minister's colleague the Minister
for Corrective Services said:
… the operational
arrangements to monitor and manage the accused person, including any associated
costs, are the responsibility of the Western Australia Police Force.
(3) What was the cost of supervising, monitoring
and transporting the accused while on bail during the duration of the trial?
