I refer to proposed changes to the Conservation and Land Management Act 1984 which confer on the Chief Executive Officer the power to manage fires on lands which come within that Act, and I ask: (a) whether the Minister agrees with this change; (b) how will this change impact on the powers of the Commissioner of Fire and Emergency Services to take over control of serious incidents; and (c) isn't this amendment inconsistent with Keelty recommendations where departmental silos were found to be inimical to effective and timely fire management?
