INNER-CITY PRIMARY SCHOOL — LAND
82. Mr P.J. RUNDLE to the Minister for Education:
I have a supplementary question.
Yesterday, the minister said that I should be ashamed about asking him to
explain this $40 million bungle. Today he claims it was an error. How does the
minister explain such a significant mistake being missed by him and his office?

I
am not sure what the member is talking about. A $40 million bungle—what
$40 million bungle? The member has asked me a question, but I have no
idea what it is about, so that is why I am asking. What $40 million bungle is
the member talking about? I will try to answer it if the member can tell me
what it is about, but I have no idea. The member does not have any idea.

Are we finished? Are you sure? Minister for Education.
Dr A.D. BUTI : The member is
unfortunately prone to just go on newspaper articles without actually doing his
own research. He has no idea about the question he asked yesterday. He had no
idea about it, and now he is talking about a $40 million bungle. I do not
understand what he means. It is very interesting.
I reiterate that the Lord Mayor has
always been supportive. He has been so supportive that in this ''Basil
Zempilas: Your strong voice for our City'' newsletter, it reads —
Delivering

Partnering with the State Government to deliver a Primary
School for East Perth
That is what we want! We want to
partner with the City of Perth to build this school. Why is the member opposed to building a state-of-the-art, world-class
inner-city primary school, plus unlocking a parcel of land that will provide up to a $27.5 million bonus for the city?
Can I give the member some advice
before I sit down? He should not do the bidding of other people and he should
do his own research. One more thing before I sit down—I reiterate that
this government wants to partner with the City of Perth to build an inner-city
primary school. That is what we want to do.
