PERTH STADIUM
157. Mr P.B. WATSON to the Minister for
Sport and Recreation:
I refer to the comments today by the
Leader of the National Party that there has not been enough transparency around
the privatisation of Fremantle port and the same arguments that have been
levelled at the deal around Perth Stadium. Will the minister now release all
details concerning Perth Stadium so that they can be openly and honestly
assessed?

This government has a very good
track record in providing information on Perth Stadium. A significant amount of
information about contracts has been put into the public realm. No, I will not
be releasing information before we conclude —
Several members interjected.
The
SPEAKER : Member for Victoria Park, I call you to order now for the third
time.
Ms
M.J. DAVIES : I will not be releasing information before we have concluded
negotiations involving the operator of the stadium and key stakeholder
agreements. We are still in a period of negotiations. We as a government are
looking through and discussing with all stakeholders what can be made public
beyond the end of those negotiations and we intend, when we can and when we are
not breaching any agreement with those stakeholders, to release as much
information as possible. I have had that conversation and raised that issue
with the Treasurer already. Until we reach that point, we will not release more
information to the public, because we are in negotiations.
