Various factors affect attendance at State Library training for public library staff, including the availability of State Library staff to develop and deliver training and the availability of public library staff to attend. The State Library is moving to an online learning platform for the delivery of public library training. This change is driven by consultation with public libraries that showed a need for more self-directed learning that could be undertaken at a time convenient to public library staff. Online training has not been captured in the number of public library staff attending training reported in Annual Reports since 2014-15.
No courses have been cut from the training program over the past four years.

2013-14, all attendance at training in person and online was reported in the Annual Report.
The high attendance reported in 2014-15 includes country library staff who attended the Public Libraries WA conference via satellite link.
The 2016-17 and 2017-18 Annual Reports only reported face-to-face training, online training was not included.
