The Department of Fire and Emergency Services (DFES) advises that:
(a – b(iv)) as of 18 September 2023, there were 48 vacancies.
A number of the nominally deemed vacant positions are being utilised internally to fund other roles required for operational reasons. This can also be the case for when staff are required to act in a higher role.
Recruitment for these positions is carried out both through campaigns and via internal expression of interest.
Staffing separations and ongoing recruitment are part of the daily activity of a modern agency and its workforce.
See Attachment 1.
(v) No.
