A parliamentary question regarding funding for music facilities at John Curtin College of the Arts, specifically addressing the replacement of a demountable used by GATE music students and comparing facilities to those at Churchlands Senior High School. The Minister's response indicates a master plan includes removal of temporary buildings and new facilities to department standards, but funding is contingent and budget information is confidential.

I refer to funding for John Curtin College of the Arts, and to the specific issue of the temporary demountable that is housing the Gifted and Talented Education (GATE) music students, school orchestra and school ensembles, and I ask:
(a) will the temporary demountable be replaced with appropriate music facilities for these students;
(b) will the Minister include funding for appropriate music facilities to be built at John Curtin College of the Arts in this year’s budget, and if not, why not; and
(c) will GATE music students at John Curtin College of the Arts receive facilities of a similar standard to those provided for GATE music students at Churchlands Senior High School?

(a) and (c) The master plan for future development of the College that is currently being prepared includes the removal of temporary buildings. The design of new music facilities in the master plan would be to the Department of Education's standards. The school's specific needs would be identified in consultation with the school during the planning process when funding becomes available.
(b) This information is Cabinet-in-Confidence.
