PERTH
FREIGHT LINK — STAGE 2
788. Mr M. McGOWAN to the
Minister for Transport:
I have a supplementary question. The Minister for Transport
indicated last night in a signed-off answer in the upper house that the cost
was $19.7 million. I repeat: why did the Premier say he had no evidence of any
cost in the vicinity of $23 million?

AnswerView source ↗

I cannot answer for the Premier. I have just given my answer.
That is the figure I am aware of. It is an alliance —
Mr M. McGowan :
Therefore, he was right.
Mr W.R. MARMION : I
am trying to answer the question.
Mr M. McGowan : Therefore,
he was right.
Mr W.R. MARMION :
Mr Speaker, I am being interjected on.
Mr M. McGowan : Why
did I ask you?
Mr W.R. MARMION : I
have not finished yet.
The SPEAKER :
Leader of the Opposition, thank you. You are tough. You can take it. Come on.
Mr W.R. MARMION :
The contract the Leader of the Opposition is referring to is an alliance
contract. In the alliance contract, the proponents work with Main Roads Western
Australia and get paid for the amount of work they do. There has been $23 million
spent on investigation.
