PRISON FELLOWSHIP WESTERN AUSTRALIA — DAVID
VOLMER
676. Mr P. PAPALIA to the Minister for
Corrective Services:
I have a supplementary question.
Noting that Prison Fellowship provides services to every single prison in the
state, including on the invitation of someone, either the minister or his
department or Banksia Hill children's detention facility, what is the
screening process for people in Prison Fellowship before they go into our
prisons?

What I can tell the member for
Warnbro is that the advice I currently have, and I will correct this if it is
wrong, is that that particular individual never directly provided services into
any prison himself anyway; the organisation that he was running at the time
did.
Mr
P. Papalia : Where was the graduation of the Sycamore Tree program?
The
SPEAKER : Members!
Mr
J.M. FRANCIS : Sycamore Tree is run out of Acacia, mate.
The
SPEAKER : Member for Warnbro, you asked a question. Let the minister answer
the question.
Mr
P. Papalia interjected.
The
SPEAKER : Member for Warnbro, I call you now to order for the first time.
Mr
J.M. FRANCIS : Secondly, as the member would know, there are a number of
different checks run by the department —
Mr
P. Papalia interjected.
The
SPEAKER : Member for Warnbro, let him answer.
Mr J.M. FRANCIS : —
including the requirement for a working with children check to go into Banksia
Hill, and including a number of other different probity checks run by the
Department of Corrective Services before anyone is allowed contact with
children.
Mr P. Papalia interjected.
Mr
J.M. FRANCIS : Congratulations. You're a grub.
The SPEAKER : I call you to
order for the second time, member for Warnbro.
Mr
J.M. FRANCIS : You don't deserve the reply. You're better
than this; you should grow up. You're a disgrace. Get out of the
gutter; go on.
Mr
P. Papalia interjected.
The SPEAKER : Member for
Warnbro, I have called you twice. Are you finished, minister?
Mr
J.M. Francis : Yes.
