QuestionView source ↗
I refer the minister to the front-page story in The West Australian of 4 October 2003 about charges laid by the Department of Conservation and Land Management against Mr Alan Yandle. (1) What was the extent of the damage to the native vegetation at Sea Groatt reserve for which Mr Yandle has been charged? (2) Can the minister advise the current state of the wetlands and reserve? (3) Can the minister advise how much acid drainage water is currently entering that reserve via deep drainage from surrounding farmlands? (4) How many kilometres of deep drainage channels are currently impacting on CALM-managed lands in Western Australia? (5) Can the minister table the details of any of those deep drainage channels that have not been approved or have not completed their preconditions for approval, and advise what action CALM is taking to uphold the law in relation to this situation? Hon TOM STEPHENS

I will take further advice on the answer in my folder on the basis that it has occurred to me that I am being asked to provide an answer about a matter that presumably is sub judice. I have a detailed answer, but I do not know that it is appropriate for me to provide it at this time. I will take further advice.
