(1) Schools in Western Australia received $1.5 million as part of the Full Service Schools Program. The Program was to support young people who were returning to school as part of the Commonwealth Government's Common Youth Allowance. Each district is responsible for developing its own programs. Areas across the State with higher levels of youth unemployment were the prime focus, so secondary schools in the Peel, Fremantle, Joondalup, Cannington, Swan and Bunbury districts were the major funding recipients. All other districts across the State were allocated smaller amounts. (2) There are two programs being undertaken in Kalgoorlie-Boulder. Eastern Goldfields Senior High School is undertaking a work readiness program for students and the Goldfields District Office and Curtin University are working together on a youth employment training initiative.
