I have seen the six questions that the member has put on this matter to me
today. Obviously, this is a very tragic set of circumstances and my heart goes
out to that family. Through my office we have facilitated an avenue and
opportunities for the family members, the brother and the sister, to meet and
discuss matters at Alma Street, including access to that particular
documentation. As members know, the new mental health bill will have a default
position: the right for families to be
involved in discussion, —
Hon Ljiljanna Ravlich : I don't care; I asked you
to table the report.
The PRESIDENT : Order!
Hon HELEN MORTON : — decisions and planning. This
is part of the member's answer so if she can be patient, she will hear
the rest of the response. As the member and others know, the new mental health
bill will have a default position: the right for families to be involved in
decision making and planning around issues for people with mental illness. As
the member also knows, this is a matter before the courts and because the
member has asked for very specific and detailed information, which I was unable
to get today, I ask that the member put the question on notice.
