(1) $13 000 was provided by the Perth Convention Bureau, which is part funded by the State Government, to the Western Australian Indigenous Tourism Operators Council (WAITOC) to support the World Indigenous Tourism Summit (WITS) conference bid and market the conference in Western Australia. $80 000 is being contributed by Tourism Western Australia to host the conference. It is expected that WITS will attract between 250 and 300 international, national and local delegates.
(2) The Australian Indigenous Tourism Conference (AITC) is delivered biennially by WAITOC and held alternately in Western Australia and another Australian State or Territory. As WITS will be held in Perth in 2020, WAITOC is looking to take AITC 2022 to another Australian destination. As yet, no request for funding has been received from WAITOC. 180 delegates attended the AITC in Perth in 2016 and there were 240 delegates at AITC in Lorne, Victoria in 2018.
