The Housing Authority advises:
Nil. However, over the past three years the Housing Authority has been working with the City of Bunbury and the South West Development Commission to develop a Withers Urban Renewal Strategy and Local Area Plan to provide the appropriate strategic context and planning framework for the renewal.
The strategy seeks to achieve a diverse and thriving community with an appropriate distribution of social housing. A formal Memorandum Of Understanding with the City of Bunbury and the South West Development Commission was signed on Monday 31 October 2016.
The strategy identifies opportunities to address:
The Housing Authority is seeking to progressively reduce the proportion of public housing through a combination of new development, redevelopment and sales. Increased affordable home ownership opportunities will facilitate a greater social and tenure mix in the suburb.
The Housing Authority continues to explore a diverse range of housing options in Bunbury, with a focus on medium to higher-density developments where appropriate to the local context and amenity, with the potential to accommodate Bunbury’s ageing population and a growing number of single parent households, people living alone or as couples. The Housing Authority is examining options for medium-density housing developments.
